What Does U.S. Moo Do Academy Teach?
Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do
Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do is a Korean martial art founded by martial arts visionary Hwang Kee in South Korea in 1945. Founded by Hwang Kee as one of the original Kwans (“Houses”) of Tang Soo Do, Moo Duk Kwan translates to “House of Martial Virtue”. Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do originated as a multi-faceted fighting art built upon elements of Japanese Karate, the ancient Korean martial arts of Subak and Taekkyon, and northern Chinese martial arts such as Kung Fu. Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do is the forefather and direct lineage of Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo and, in turn, U.S. Moo Do Academy.
World Taekwondo (WT)
U.S. Moo Do Academy’s style of WT Taekwondo is the modern and developed evolution of Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do created and developed by Hwang Kee. Translated to English, Taekwondo means “The Way of Kicking and Punching”, or “The Way of The Foot and Fist”. U.S. Moo Do Academy’s Taekwondo lineage, knowledge, and establishment stem from internationally renowned 9th Dan Grandmaster Kyongwon Ahn, a student of Hwang Kee and other influential Taekwondo Grandmasters like Jhoon Rhee and Chang Bok Lee.
Hapkido
Modern Hapkido is a hybrid Korean martial art and self-defense system developed by Master Choi Yong-Sool in the post-World War II 1940s after returning to his home country of Korea after a 30-year stay in Japan. A contemporary art of Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo, Hapkido employs many similar moves while maintaining a particular focus on tight strikes, joint locks, and takedowns. Like Taekwondo, Hapkido is an incredibly valuable element of self-defense.
